At KARA Family Resource Centre, we host many free community events that bring families together, build resilient communities, and create lasting memories. These events are designed to foster connection, support, and fun for all ages!
Kickoff to Summer BBQ
We are excited to host the 2026 Kickoff to Summer BBQ, sponsored by ATB Financial! Join us on July 6, were the event will bring families, neighbours, community partners, and local leaders together once again for an evening of celebration, connection, and family-friendly fun. This year's event promises to be our biggest and most impactful yet.

Kicks for Kids
Held every August, Kicks for Kids ensures children (up to 18 years old) start the school year off right — with a brand-new pair of donated shoes! This initiative boosts confidence and helps kids feel prepared as they step into a new academic year.

Winterfest
Launched in 2024, Winterfest brings warmth and cheer to the colder months. In its first year, families enjoyed hot chocolate, kick sleds, and sleigh rides in a cozy winter setting. We’re excited to grow this magical event with even more seasonal fun and community connection!

Year-Round Community Events
In addition to our larger events, we also host special celebrations throughout the year, including:
- Mother’s Day & Father’s Day Events (open to all parents and guardians)
- National Indigenous Peoples Day (in collaboration with the Family Resource Network)
- Hullabaloo at the HUB
- And many more exciting gatherings!
